Being the address presented by AKOGUN IYIOLA OYEDEPO, Chairman KWARA REDEMPTION MOVEMENT (KRM) on the occasion of the Movement joining the AFRICAN DEMOCRATIC MOVEMENT (ADC)

I welcome leaders and members of our Movement to this epoch making occasion. Small as this gathering may be, those that witness this should know that this really is a turning point and defining moment in the politics of Kwara State.

Today is significant for some reasons but the most important of it is that a new focus is being provided for the people of this state. When what we have for years is the same situation dressed in different attires, there is the need for another platform that must make a difference. That was why KRM was formed two years ago.

At inception it was to operate mainly within the APC. But as APC became a one man/family dominated party in Kwara State, there was the need to look for another platform to accommodate alternative views and stand on Kwara politics.

The inheritors of OTOOGE struggle have made nonsense of what we fought for and thereby complicated the essence of our efforts. And there was no internal mechanism to check misgovernment of the present administration in Kwara State.

Virtually all the evils we fought for are manifested in the present system. People of integrity and character should dissociate themselves from deception passed for governance in Kwara. That was the essence of the formation of KRM and now our transition into ADC.

KRM was formed in the month of February, 2024 with a clear motive to direct the people of this state towards genuine change and progress which was the purpose of Otooge before it was aborted.

For the two years of the exsistence of KRM we have further raised the level of political consciousness using radio programs as tools of sensitization.

Now that we have decided to join the ADC, Kwarans should expect a more engaging politics on issues that matter to the people of this state.

With our joining forces with ADC, a rainbow coalition is hereby formed. There are some members of ADC we met on ground and others that migrated from PDP, Labour Party, SDP, APC and others. With these people we have decided to move together as people with one purpose: defeat the incumbent government and install a government that is driven by altruistic purpose. We are even prepared to join forces with other Parties with the same agenda to uproot the present unacceptable standard. The best of all the existing parties have decided to coalesce into a formidable political structure.

To those that believe that today is not better than yesterday, ADC is a credible third force alternative in Kwara State. We have registered members that are already more than twenty thousand (20,000) members in Kwara State. These twenty thousand members of KRM are hereby directed to register into ADC immediately.

We of KRM commiserate with the people of Woro in Kiama LGA for the recent massacres that took place in that place. There is failure of Secirity in the state as a result of government that has failed. The failure has created in the heart of the people that Secirity challenges cannot be solved. We shall prove to the world that our category can do better than this.

Let me end this short address by telling those in government that they should be ready for a good engagement on everything they have done since being elected. Kwarans will be given a new positive focus and liberating agenda. The agenda will speak to the REAL NEEDS of the people of Kwara. We are concerned about Kwara State before we shall be concerned about Nigeria.
