Court Retains Gombe Gov As APC Candidate

The Gombe State governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, Mohammed Barde, filed a lawsuit against Governor Inuwa Yahaya, the Independent National Electoral Commission, and two other parties. The Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed the lawsuit.
The governor’s election was not declared invalid by the court.
Justice Binta Nyako dismissed the charge that the governor submitted fake documents to INEC in her ruling on Tuesday.
In the lawsuit with the case number FHC/ABJ/CS/1301/2022, INEC, the All Progressives Congress, and Yahaya were listed as the first through third defendants.
The plaintiffs, through their lawyer, Mr Johnson Usman (SAN), alleged that the governor lied on oath in documents he submitted to INEC.
