A Nigerian University student identified as Daniel has reportedly lost his life after armed robbers came to rob him and other students in their hostel in Awka, Anambra state.
Awka’s Nnamdi Azikiwe University student Daniel, who was enrolled in the 200-level course, reportedly had his phone stolen. Witnesses informed Punch News that the deceased surrendered the burglars his phone in a humble manner but insisted on keeping his sim card.
According to the eyewitness, the armed robber accidentally fired the gun and shot Daniel in the abdomen as he attempted to take the sim card out of the phone and hand it to the student. He was taken urgently to the hospital, where he tragically passed away.
Daniel obediently handed up his phone to the armed thieves, but asked for his SIM card, which they consented to give him, according to the eyewitness. Daniel was shot in the stomach by the hoodlum as he struggled to take a phone out of a tight pack to give him his SIM card while clutching his revolver.
The death of the student was reportedly confirmed by DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Anambra state Police command’s public relations officer.
