Adeleke Vs Oyetola: Osun tribunal takes final addresses today

On Thursday, the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State claimed that the state’s APC chapter had planned an attack on the tribunal hearing the case challenging the election of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Parties are expected to submit their final written arguments to the judge-led panel on Friday (today). The PDP responded to an earlier statement from the APC, which encouraged security personnel to increase protection at the location of the tribunal session in order to prevent an attack by unnamed politicians, in a statement released by its acting chairman, Dr. Adekunle Akindele.
On Friday, the tribunal will hear the last written arguments from the parties before making a verdict. Akindele claimed that the opposition party was using a “subterfuge of voicing concerns on a plot it has perfected” and urged the police to interview Mr. Tajudeen Lawal, the Osun APC chairman, and Mr. Kola Olabisi, his media adviser.
“Members of the public will recall that two APC members were detained with loaded firearms a few months ago at the entrance to the State High Court while court hearings were taking place,” Akindele said. Only the quick action of alert members of the public that day prevented calamity.
