Education Commissioner Applauds Governor, Staff over Seamless Conduct of 2025 Placement Examination in Kwara
The 2025 Placement Examination into Junior Secondary School One was held across Kwara State on Saturday, drawing commendation from the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe, for its seamless coordination.
Olohungbebe, who monitored the exercise in Ilorin, described the process as peaceful, well-organised, and free of irregularities.
The commissioner, who visited several examination centres in the Ilorin metropolis, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of both pupils and invigilators.
“I am impressed by the smooth and hitch-free conduct of the placement examination across the state,” he said. “The exercise was orderly, and reports from other centres are similarly encouraging. This reflects our collective commitment to integrity and quality in our educational processes.”
He commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his unwavering support to the education sector, especially in the areas of policy reform, innovation, and timely release of funds.
“This is the first time we are introducing online registration for the placement examination, and I must commend the administration for embracing innovation. While there may be areas to improve upon, we are open to feedback and will make necessary adjustments in subsequent editions,” he added.
Olohungbebe reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to inclusive and quality education, stating that “no child must be left behind.” He encouraged parents to enrol their children in public schools, noting that the present administration places a premium on education and will continue to invest in creating accessible, affordable, and qualitative learning environments across the state.
“Our pupils are the pride of tomorrow. It is our duty to nurture and protect them, and this government will continue to create a conducive environment for them to thrive,” he noted.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Olanrewaju Rebecca Bake, applauded the governor for the prompt release of funds, which enabled the smooth conduct of the examination, advising pupils to be good ambassadors of their schools, families, and the state.
Bake also commended teachers across the state for their continued dedication and urged them to sustain their efforts in complementing the government’s strides in revamping the education sector.
In her remarks, the Director of Curriculum and Assessment, Mrs Adewuyi Victoria Funmilayo, described the 2025 examination as a resounding success, citing its prompt commencement, smooth execution, and general orderliness.
Parents interviewed at different centres also expressed appreciation to the state government for improving the examination process, particularly through the introduction of online registration. They noted that the examination commenced on time, was well-coordinated, and that their children were properly attended to throughout.
The monitoring team included directors and staff of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, as well as selected officers from the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
Some of the visited centres were Saint Anthony Secondary School, Ilorin; Ansarul-Islam Secondary School, Ogidi Oloje, Ilorin; Cherubim and Seraphim
College, Ilorin; Government Day Secondary School, Tanke; and several schools in Ifelodun and Irepodun Local Government Areas.
