JUST IN: Tambuwal in EFCC custody over alleged N189bn fraud

Former Sokoto State governor and serving senator, Aminu Tambuwal, is currently in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged financial misconduct involving N189 billion.
According to sources, Tambuwal arrived at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja around 11:30 am on Monday, where he was interrogated over alleged cash withdrawals said to contravene the provisions of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.
The exact period during which the withdrawals were made has not been confirmed as of the time of filing this report.
Tambuwal, who served as Sokoto State governor from 2015 to 2023, was also the Speaker of the House of Representatives between 2011 and 2015.
When contacted, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale declined to comment on the development.
