Kwara: Oro Youths, Elders Kicks Against Puported Nomination List
Oro Ward 1 Concern Youth Movement (CYM) in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State has kicked against a particular nominations list making the wave, saying the list lacks merits, hopeless and not the true picture of what the people want.
The nomination list according to reliable sources was in line with the request by the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq that names of worthy individuals across the various wards in the state should be submitted in regards to the formation of his cabinets and political offices who’ll be working with him in his 2nd term at office.
During the weekly ward meeting held at Ijomu -Oro town hall, the youth and Elders kick against a purported list submitted to represent their ward.
In their words;
One of the youth commented that “how should anybody nominate someone who we don’t know, who has no Kwara state voter’s card or party membership. Someone who has never been to a ward meeting nor seen campaigning for the reelection bid of His Excellence, Gov AbdulRazaq or the APC”
In another remark by an Elder who pleaded anonymously ; he said “how can you ignore elders and youth in decision making? He added that these are the elements that work for the comprehensive victory of the reelection of the Governor and all APC candidates.
An APC stakeholder who doubled as the Supervisor for Works, Land and Housing at Irepodun LG Hon. Fatoye Babatunde who was also present at the meeting calls for calm while cautioning the aggrieved people. Hon Fatoye also promises to take up their grievance to the appropriate quarter.
The aggrieved people clamour that the youth and elders of the ward are calling on the appropriate quarters to do the needful and effect proper changes on the list of those who will be representing them.
