Wigwe Succeeds Rabiu As President Of France Nigeria Business Council

Abdul Samad Rabiu, the founding president of the France Nigeria Business Council, has handed the organization’s leadership to Herbert Wigwe, group managing director of Access Bank, following a fruitful two-year stint.
A new era in the history of the Council began today as Wigwe received the reins from Rabiu, the founder and executive chairman of BUA Group.
Rabiu thanked the Council members, President Macron, and other parties in his parting speech for their consistent support throughout his term. He commended Jean Haas for his remarkable work as the Council’s Secretary, who will remain in that position under the next administration.
The Council made considerable strides toward deepening commercial ties between France and Nigeria and fostering their mutual growth and prosperity during Rabiu’s term as the first President. Under his direction, the Council set up two Paris-based France-Nigeria economic Forums, a gathering in Lagos, and a session in Paris last year, which resulted in a number of successful economic alliances between French and Nigerian companies. Rabiu led the Council’s support for a number of programs that encourage interaction between the best brains in both countries and the development of the next generation of business leaders.
The new president, Herbert Wigwe, is a well-known person in Nigeria’s banking industry and a seasoned banker.
Wigwe’s extensive expertise and acute awareness of the state of the world’s financial system were highlighted by Rabiu as two of his greatest strengths as a candidate to lead the Council to new heights.
