Group warns Tinubu’s ADC over land encroachment, urges Offa Descendants Union (ODU) to investigate

Kwara South Youth Congress (KSYC) has issued a warning to the Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to president Bola Tinubu, who also doubles as the paramount ruler of Ilemona town, Col. Nurudeen Yusuf over alleged land encroachment in Offa, as it’s widely circulated in the town.

The group, which comprised of prominent indigenes from offa and accross Kwara South, accused the ADC of encroaching on lands belonging to the people of Offa, and demanded that the Offa Descendants Union (ODU) investigate the allegations.

In a statement signed by the group’s spokesperson, Arch. Adelaja Bashir, the group called on the ODU to take immediate action to protect the lands of their ancestors, alleging that the ADC’s actions were a threat to the heritage and livelihood of the Offa people.

“We urge the Offa Descendants Union to investigate this matter and take necessary actions to stop the ADC’s land-grabbing activities. If this issue is not well checked, it can cause community war which will affect the livelihood of the people, the statement read.

The group alleged that there are several reports that majority of the lands were resold to ADC by land grabbers without ADC proper verification, they said the action has raised serious concerns among the people of Offa community and such action can reignite community hatred and war. They claimed that several hectares of land had been taken over by the ADC, leaving many families without access to their ancestral lands.

“We have evidence of the land-grabbing activities, and we will not hesitate to take legal action if the ODU fails to address this issue. We demand that the ADC returns all the lands he has taken over to their rightful owners,” the statement added.

The group warned that if the ODU failed to take action, they would be forced to take drastic measures to protect the people of Offa. They threatened to mobilize the entire Offa community to resist the Elemona’s land-grabbing activities, and to take their protest to the state government.

“We will not sit idly by while our lands are being taken away from us. We pleads that the ODU takes immediate action to address this issue. If they fail to do so, we will take our protest to the state government and demand that they intervene,” the statement concluded.

The group further reminded Elemona of the long lasting relationship between Offa and Ilemona, they further remind him of the fact that his mother hails from Offa and by extension he is related to Offa.

The alleged land-grabbing activities of the ADC have sparked widespread outrage in Offa, with many residents calling for the ODU to take action. The issue has also raised concerns about the abuse of power and the need for greater transparency and accountability in the management of public lands.
