PDP Chieftain Musbau Esinrogunjo Convicted to nine month imprisonment

In a significant legal development that has sent ripples through the political landscape of Kwara State, Comrade Musbau Esinrogunjo, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been sentenced to nine months in prison. The ruling, delivered by the Kwara State High Court, concludes a legal saga that has occupied the judicial system for over three years.
The judgment was handed down on Tuesday by Justice E.B. Muhammed. The conclusion of this case marks the end of a marathon trial that spanned exactly three years and three months. Throughout the proceedings, the court meticulously examined the actions of the political figure, ultimately finding him guilty of charges that strike at the heart of civic order: the obstruction of law enforcement and the disturbance of public peace.
Justice Muhammed’s ruling was clear and uncompromising, emphasizing that the law applies equally to all citizens, regardless of their political standing or local influence.
The court also handed Esinrogunjo an additional six-month jail term for disturbing public peace. However, the judge granted him the option of paying a fine of N2,000 in lieu of the six-month sentence.
During the trial, the prosecution called four witnesses, including the police officer at the centre of the incident, to establish its case.
The court held that the evidence presented sufficiently proved the charges beyond reasonable doubt.
Recall that the convict is also appearing before the hight court for allegedly raping a minor.
