Boost for Super eagles of Nigeria as Michael Olise turns down Algeria

After declining the chance to represent Algeria internationally, Michael Olise has given Nigeria a boost.

There is discussion surrounding Olise’s potential for international participation given that the 21-year-old is qualified to represent four different nations.

Although Olise was born in England, he currently plays for France’s young team and is also qualified to represent Algeria and Nigeria.

The Crystal Palace star has narrowed his choices though after turning down the chance to play for Algeria.

The Algerian Football Federation reportedly reached out to Olise, but the former Reading attacker said he was not interested in playing for the North African powerhouses, according to Algerian journalist Sad Fellak.

The Super Eagles, who are also keeping an eye on Olise’s future, are greatly aided by his decision to reject Algeria.

Nigeria, however, is still in last place since Olise favors France over all other nations. Olise has only one more opportunity to make his national team debut after representing France at the U-18 and U-21 levels.

The 21-year-old will have a tough time getting into Les Bleus because France already has many talented players at the position he plays.

If the Crystal Palace winger chooses the Three Lions, he is also unlikely to have an opportunity to play for England, leaving Nigeria as his sole alternative.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro’s decision to meet with the young player about the possibility of him playing for the three-time African champions is still up in the air.
