Abdulrahman Bashir: A Goal Machine Turn Gateman Cries Out For Help

Abdulrahman Bashir, a former striker for Enyimba and Nasarawa United, is facing tough times. He’s now working as a gateman (security guard) in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Bashir, known as Bashir Eto’o, had a successful 15-year football career. He scored over 100 goals playing for clubs like Bukola Babes (Now ABS), Enyimba, Lobi Stars, Nasarawa United, Plateau United, Sunshine Stars, and Wikki Tourists.

In an interview with Adams Jesse Odoba-Yacham, Bashir Eto’o opened up about his struggles. “A lot has happened but I am still grateful to Almighty Allah,” he said.

He explained that life had been tough since retiring from professional football. “Things turned black for me, and I needed something to do,” Bashir Eto’o revealed.

The former goal machine tried reaching out to former connections for help. “I did call some people to at least let me come and play for them since it is what I know how to do best,” he said.

However, his pleas fell on deaf ears. “They turned me down stating that they have more than the required number of players they needed for the season, and I can’t stay idle, you know,” Bashir Eto’o added.

Despite the setbacks, Bashir Eto’o remains resourceful. “I am resourceful, can be of help for any team that wants to engage me either as a player or in any field related to sports,” he said.

He’s now seeking help to get back on his feet. “If there is any way anyone can help me to stand back on my feet, it will greatly be appreciated,” Bashir Eto’o appealed.

Bashir Eto’o’s story is a testament to the challenges many former footballers face. His achievements on the pitch are undeniable, with over 100 goals in his career.
