As part of its efforts to support the whole development of children, the government announced on Wednesday that maternity leave would be increased from three to six months.

While hosting members of the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Ondo State chapter, at his office in Akure, the State Head of Service, Kayode Ogundele, revealed this.

According to Ogundele, the decision was made to allow moms to adequately tend to their newborn newborns during the leave period.

He claims that in the first six months, breastfeeding should be the only form of nutrition.

The first obstacles of child-rearing would have been appropriately resolved during the leave period, according to Ogundele, so such moms would be more focused and productive when they returned to work.

According to him, the current administration has recently formed the agency for the Protection Against Gender Violence and is working to create a better society for women.

In order to handle concerns relating to women and children, this is in addition to the fully functional Ministry of Women Affairs, according to the HoS.

“FIDA, you have been performing admirably. We have observed your roles in terms of activism, advocacy, and other actions you have taken to support the society’s most vulnerable members. It’s a good job, and we pray that God will give you the strength to carry on,” he continued.
