Open letter to opposition parties in Kwara By Ahmed Funsho Hadnan

Firstly, let me congratulate the opposition leaders in Kwara, on the outcome of the presidential and legislative elections that has come and gone, You guys really did well. However, to the ones that lost out, the results has shown Kwarans that you’re all for selfish interests and not for the interest of the masses although I believe there is still time to right the wrongs you all have shown.

I don’t want to talk much about the outcome of the election but I must tell you that you don’t win a war with a divided house, and you can never succeed that way. Truly, the effect of Yoruba Lokan really played a lot in the victory of the rulling party in the state, when the opposition parties agents are canvassing voters for Asiwaju and also declared for their party, and forgot to realize that they cannot handle the two at a time (a kì léku méjì ká má p’ofo). Yoruba will say “Tobá jẹ ọsaka jẹ ọsaka, éwoni ọsaka soko”. Now, we all have seen the outcome. And the ruling party shouldn’t celebrate the success yet.

If the opposition parties have come together as one the story would have been different but ego is what some of you cannot bury. And as they say “there’s no permanent friends in politics but permanent interests”, what is the interest of the opposition parties in Kwara? If our interests is the same, then what’s stopping us from aligning? 2019 general election have shown us the power of coming together as one but ego is now effecting us all. There is power in unity.

Let me use this opportunity to inform the opposition parties in Kwara that if we fail to align then we should be prepared for another long term of one-man show like the ones before and this current one.
