Lawan, Daniel, Ganduje, Masari, others congratulate Tinubu on becoming president-elect

President-elect Bola Tinubu has received congratulations from Senate President Ahmad Lawan, former Governor Gbenga Daniel, Governors Abdullahi Ganduje and Aminu Masari, as well as other well-known Nigerians on his victory in the February 25 presidential election.

In the wee hours of Wednesday, INEC chairman Mahmood Yakubu declared Mr. Tinubu the victor of the hotly contested presidential election.

Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, who garnered 6,984,520 votes, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, who received 6,101,533 votes, were defeated by Mr. Tinubu, who received 8,794,726 votes.

In his message of congratulations, Mr. Daniel praised the president-elect as a brilliant politician and a resourceful thinker.

The former governor of Ogun said in his congratulations, “I wish you the very best in your new duty as the dream of many Nigerians for an unified and thriving country now rests on your shoulder.

The triumph was a “really pleasant feat that the All Progressives Congress would cherish for a long time,” according to Mr. Lawan.

“This victory is very sweet and will be savored for a long time by our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), our supporters throughout Nigeria, and lovers of democracy throughout the world,” he continued. The election was fiercely contested on all sides.

Former governor and PDP leader Ayo Fayose praised Mr. Tinubu and urged Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president, to accept the results of the election.

I’d like to congratulate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on becoming the new leader of Nigeria. When the race for president comes to a close, I implore the remaining candidates, notably Atiku Abubakar, to accept the result for the benefit of our nation as a whole. There will always be tomorrow, Mr. Fayose assured.

The former governor of Ekiti took use of the occasion to call for Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP’s national chairman, to step down.

Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP National Chairman, ought to go immediately since he is unable to advance the party, he said.

Further congratulating the president-elect, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje said: “Tinubu’s victory would not only help our homeland Nigeria, but it will also serve as a morale booster for Africa, as a continent, and for the world at large.”

Likening Mr. Tinubu’s victory as Nigeria’s future president to fitting a “square peg in a square hole,” Governor Aminu Masari said.

Buba Marwa, the chairman of the NDLEA, expressed his happiness at Mr. Tinubu’s selection as the next president.

In his letter of congratulations to Mr. Tinubu, Mr. Marwa wrote: “It is with great pleasure that I write to celebrate your electoral win in the 2023 presidential election, from which you emerged as the president-Elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It is a triumph that was earned and was based on years of dedication, perseverance, hard work, and political shrewdness on the part of a democrat whose credentials have been clear since the height of NADECO.
