Nigeria’s daily fuel consumption drops to 52m litres – NMDPRA
According to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), the country’s average daily use of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), often known as gasoline, decreased to N52 million liters in July from N64 million liters the previous month.
Recent statistics from NMDPRA, which news reporter received over the weekend, demonstrated that the nation’s fuel consumption had decreased as a result of the elimination of the gasoline subsidy.
The withdrawal of fuel subsidies by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu resulted in statewide price increases for PMS of more than N600 per litre.
Nigeria’s average daily gasoline usage was 64,964,000 when the regime to remove fuel subsidies began in June. In July, the amount fell to 52 million liters.
There have been controversies surrounding Nigeria’s daily fuel consumption figure, which prompted the Nigerian Extractives Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) to pledge to initiate a study to establish accurate data.
