Tajudeen Olesin Foundation Renews Education Push with 8th Free Summer Lesson
The Tajudeen Olesin Foundation has flagged off the eighth edition of its Annual Free Summer Lesson Programme, reaffirming its commitment to improving access to quality education for students in Kwara State.
The programme, which commenced on Tuesday at Government Day Secondary School, Amule, Ilorin, is expected to provide weeks of intensive academic coaching, mentorship and character-building sessions for hundreds of students, with volunteer teachers leading the initiative.
Speaking at the opening of the programme, the founder of the Foundation, Ambassador Ibrahim Tajudeen Shola Olesin, said the initiative was conceived a decade ago as a modest intervention to support public education but has since evolved into a platform that has positively transformed the lives of thousands of young learners.
He recalled that although the programme was suspended for two years during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation remained steadfast in its commitment to educational development and youth empowerment.
According to him, education remains the most valuable investment any society can make, stressing that every child deserves access to quality learning opportunities, academic guidance and the confidence to pursue a brighter future regardless of their background.
“This programme is our own way of complementing government’s efforts in improving educational outcomes. We believe that when young people are equipped with knowledge, discipline and the right values, they become catalysts for positive change in society,” Olesin said.
He urged participating students to maximise the opportunity by remaining focused throughout the exercise, asking questions freely and believing in their ability to excel despite life’s challenges.
“Your background should never determine your destination. Stay committed, work hard and make the best use of this opportunity,” he advised.
The Foundation also expressed appreciation to the volunteer teachers, parents, community leaders and partners whose continuous support has sustained the annual programme over the years.
Olesin noted that the sacrifices and dedication of the volunteers have been instrumental in ensuring that the initiative continues to provide academic support and inspire young people to achieve their educational aspirations.
The annual summer lesson has become one of the Foundation’s flagship educational interventions, offering free academic support to students during the long vacation while promoting discipline, leadership and personal development.
The Foundation expressed optimism that this year’s edition would further strengthen its mission of nurturing future leaders and contributing meaningfully to the development of education in Kwara State.
