Simisola Kosoko, also known as Simi, is a well-known singer who has spoken about how her husband, musician Adekunle Gold, persisted in getting her to think about dating him in the beginning of their careers.


The singer claimed that the man she refers to as AG Baby had been sending her Facebook messages for a while, but she wasn’t aware of it until they began dating.

She talked about how they finally connected at one of her performances and how Gold’s “niceness” allowed her to accept dating him months later.

In a recent interview with The Beat 99.9 FM in Lagos, Simi made this revelation.

The singer of “Stranger” claimed that they dated for five years before getting hitched in 2019.

I was fairly well known in the gospel community, she claimed. Additionally, Adekunle Gold was aware of my album at that time as well.He has been DMing me on Facebook and contacting me there. But until we started dating, I had never seen those DMs.

“I don’t recall how we eventually reconnected. He showed up at Bogobiri’s performance of mine. He wore a white BYC and pants and was really lean at the moment. He came to see me play. I exclaimed, “Oh hey! Oh, I’m such a fan, he said. And I responded, “Okay!” [laughs]

“I’m not sure, but he must have persisted because a friendship resulted from it. He seemed like a pretty lovely guy to me. Later that year, when we had become friends, he asked me out.


I mean, as much as I was sounding like all that, I still didn’t really have nothing. He was a nice guy and I was like, ‘Okay, I don’t mind a nice guy’ [laughs].
