Wike attacks CBN over Naira policy

Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, stated on Tuesday that it is regretful that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) did not implement the Naira swap policy in accordance with the world’s best practices.
According to POLITICS NIGERIA, the governor emphasized that, in a perfect world, the CBN would have kept the old notes in use alongside the new ones for at least a year before entirely phased them out.
At the Government House in Port Harcourt, Governor Wike made these statements after receiving the formal letter of nomination for the “award of Independent Man of the Year 2022” from the management of Independent Newspapers.
You didn’t even make the new one available before telling us we couldn’t get the old one back. You are not permitted to even collect your money, Wike said, despite the fact that you even have money in the bank.
The governor also pointed out that individuals who are pushing for Nigerians to use online banking have neglected to consider the reality that the vast majority of people, especially in the rural areas, lack bank accounts.
