2023: We didn’t release final list of candidates – INEC warns political parties, others

A list of candidates for the general elections in 2023 has not been made public, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC.

Nigerians should not believe rumors that INEC released a final list of candidates approved for the general election in 2023, according to INEC spokesman Festus Okoye.

With only 46 days till the start of the general elections in 2023, according to Okoye, INEC could not publish the complete list.

The Commission wishes to emphasize unequivocally that no new publication of the final list of candidates was made as claimed, according to a statement by Okoye. The general public should disregard the story as a result.

With only 46 days to the general election, there cannot be a definitive list of candidates, unless names are released as replacements for candidates who were previously nominated in accordance with a court ruling.

Additionally, the situation is currently subjudiced because several of the applicants who made the “new” final list are still in court.

Accordingly, political parties, litigants, and the general public should be led.
