On election day, many Nigerians would be compelled to sell their votes in order to have cash on hand for their businesses and other essential necessities due to the lack of the naira.

More than 60% of Nigerians do not have bank accounts, according to statistics from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), indicating that a bigger portion of the population than the apex bank is asking to support its cashless policy does not have bank accounts to do so.

M.I. Mustapha, the attorney for the states of Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara, cited the CBN data in his request for a supreme court order to prevent the federal government from carrying out its plan to declare the old notes legal money by the deadline of February 10.

A trader and an elderly woman who went by the name of Mama told legit.ng that they were tired of the situation and that they were under pressure from the federal government’s early January 31 deadline.

Why POS are raising withdrawal fees?

Political figures possess the new naira notes?

Politicians’ inability to convince voters to support them during electioneering cannot be entirely disregarded.

Videos of alleged Bola Tinubu supporters exchanging new notes prior to the All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in Osun have recently surfaced online. Tinubu is the party’s presidential candidate.

In a recent interview, Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate for the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), revealed that several of the leading candidates for the office either owned banks or had bankers who could acquire them the new currency.

He emphasized that because politicians will always pursue their own agendas, the naira redesign policy will only make the poor suffer.
