Food security collective responsibility of all Nigerians – Agric Minister Abdullahi

According to Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, Minister of State for Agriculture, ensuring food security is a shared responsibility among all Nigerians.
He urged Nigerians to plant something after revealing that 50 million of the country’s 80 million hectares of fertile land are still uncultivated.
He made this claim on Monday during an interview with the Senate Press Corps in his Federal Ministry of Agriculture office in Abuja.
According to the Minister, food security is the most important of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s eight points of emphasis because of its numerous advantages.
He clarified that other advantages include the fight against corruption, as hunger can lead some individuals to adopt a corrupt lifestyle, just as poverty can lead to some people adopting a corrupt lifestyle. Poverty can be significantly reduced by ensuring food security.
“The propensity of average Nigerians to turn to corruption or outright crime and criminalities would be reduced when you secure their stomachs.”
Everywhere they reside, Nigerians must embrace the policy by planting something.
The government is also committed to cultivating a sizable portion of the nation’s uncultivated hectares.
According to him, there is more than enough uncultivated arable land for the government and Nigerians to investigate for farming and, consequently, guarantee food security in the nation. As it stands, only 34 million of the country’s 70–80 million hectares of arable land are cultivated.
