More Than a Building: A Legacy of Knowledge Launched at Unilorin

Dear AVM I.L. Oluwatoyin (Rtd),
Sir, it was a profound privilege to celebrate your retirement weeks ago, honoring a career of dedicated and dynamic leadership. Today, as the University of Ilorin Space Research Center is officially commissioned, we witness that vision made permanent. To see you present as its key facilitator at this milestone is the perfect culmination of your service.
On your retirement day, I reflected that this center is a “brilliant testament to your vision and efficiency.” Today, that testament is not just complete; it is now fully activated, ready to shape futures and explore frontiers. Your decisive action has truly placed Kwara State among the elite beneficiaries of space research infrastructure.
I am reminded again of the Hadith I shared: “When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial; or a virtuous descendant who prays for him.”
With this commissioning, your Sadaqah Jariyah officially begins its sacred work. Every student who learns here, every discovery made within its walls, and every future launched from this place will be a continuous source of reward for you. You have not just built a center; you have planted a forest of knowledge that will provide shade for generations.
Congratulations on this magnificent achievement. May Allah accept this as a lasting charity and fill your retirement with continued blessings and peace.
With deepest admiration,
Saad M.O
