Meet Chief Omogbenle Isaac Adeyemi, affectionately known as Gbenle Adeyemi. Hailing from the charming town of Oke-opin in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, he’s not just a self-made man but a true entrepreneur and a passionate philanthropist.
Who is Gbenle Adeyemi?
With over 35 years under his belt as a chartered accountant and tax expert, Omogbenle has built a remarkable career that spans both the public and private sectors in Nigeria. He earned his master’s degree from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in Ogbomosho and was recognized as the overall best student in accountancy at Kwara State Polytechnic back in 1982.
Gbenle kicked off his professional journey at Balogun Ayanfalu Badejo & Co., a firm with international connections. Since then, he has taken on various significant roles, including:
- Operations Manager at G.B. Ollivant, part of U.A.C
- Accountant for the Kwara State Civil Service
- Auditing Manager at Olaniyi Titilope & Co.
- Executive Consultant and Pioneer Manager at Olusola Adekanola & Co.
- Managing Partner at his own firm, Omogbenle Adeyemi & Co. Chartered Accountants.
He’s also played an essential part as a principal revenue consultant for the Kaduna, Jigawa, and Enugu State governments and has worked on consultancy projects for both local and federal government agencies and various companies. His directorships and audit assessments cover a lot of ground, and he’s even worked with World Bank-sponsored projects!
Beyond his professional accolades, Gbenle has a richer political background. He’s served as the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), a Special Adviser to the Governor of Kwara State, and has been part of the National Working Committee of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF). His commitment to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) shines through in his roles as a former chairman of the Ilorin branch and a chief invigilator for ICAN exams in Ilorin.
As the CEO of Intercontinental Harmony Hotel, one of the largest hotels in Ilorin, Gbenle also plays a big role in creating jobs in the region.

His contributions to community development, especially in Oke Opin and the wider Ekiti region, focus on improving education, empowering youth, and supporting religious initiatives. Gbenle’s political path displays a deep understanding of leadership. Since he first dipped his toes into public service with the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the early 1990s, he has shown that sometimes, stepping back is just as powerful as moving forward.
During the SDP screening in 1992, even though he was one of the most qualified candidates for the House of Representatives, he chose to withdraw in favor of a consensus candidate chosen by the elders’ council. This act encouraged collaboration and maturity. He continued this spirit in 2018 when he put the collective wisdom of the elders ahead of his personal ambitions after the unfortunate passing of Hon. Funke Adedoyin, accepting the party’s decisions calmly even while leading in primaries.
