According to the party’s Presidential Campaign Council on Sunday, Rabiu Kwankwaso, the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s nominee for president, is still in the running and has indicated he won’t withdraw for anyone.

The allegation was referred to by the council as a smear campaign.

The NNPP asserts that jobbers looking to resell outdated medications to a sick Nigeria were behind the reports.

Ladipo Johnson, the NNPP-PCC and Kwankwaso spokesperson, provided the clarification in a press release headed “Is Kwankwaso Still in the Race? Does he intend to win?

“These are the questions being batted about by the supporters of people who have failed our nation and who are still claiming to be the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s President,” he remarked.

“The smear effort is well-planned and originates from multiple political factions! They started spreading rumors about Kwankwaso allegedly resigning for their unqualified candidates.

I feel sorry for these political swindlers since it is probably difficult for them to convince Nigerians to vote for their sick and frail candidates who have outlived their “sell by dates”! I’ll venture to argue that these alleged prospects ought to be removed from the grocery store shelf (off the political space). We have paid enough for them.

According to Johnson, political jobbers are attempting to advance their narrative by using financial incentives to recruit NNPP or Kwankwasiyya members who then put on “decamping shows” in which they parade a few hired hands wearing “new” red Kwankwasiyya caps that they symbolically remove or throw away.

“Rabiu Kwankwaso and the NNPP are contesting this election all the way through,” he continued. As the campaign enters its last 30 days, RMK 2023 is becoming more popular.

“Our candidate has visited well over 400 local governments and will soon begin his campaigning in the only state he has not yet visited.

“We reiterate that the NNPP and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso will win the election by God’s special favor and that we have a clear tactical road to success.
