Carabao Cup: Man United beat Newcastle to claim first trophy in 6 years

At Wembley Stadium on Sunday, Manchester United defeated Newcastle United 2-0 to claim the Carabao Cup.

The Red Devils were on their way to winning their first trophy since the 2016–17 season thanks to Casemiro’s first-half goal and Sven Botman’s own goal.

Although Newcastle winning the early exchanges, Casemiro rose highest to head a free kick from Luke Shaw into the bottom corner on minute 33, then on minute 39, Botman diverted a Marcus Rashford shot into the goal.

Newcastle got better in the second half, but Man United remained steadfast to win deservedly.

The most recent Carabao Cup victory is the first medal since winning the same competition in 2017.

The trophy, which was won in Erik Ten Hag’s first season as Man United manager, is also the club’s first honor.
