Lionel Messi, the captain of Inter Miami, won his first club trophy on Saturday, becoming him the most decorated football player in history.


After a thrilling penalty shootout, Messi helped Inter Miami defeat Nashville in the Leagues Cup championship.

With an incredible long-range goal in the first half, the attacker who formerly played for Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain broke the scoreless tie.


Fafa Picault, who scored from close range in the second half to equalize Messi’s goal, caused the game to conclude in a 1-1 tie.

Inter Miami ultimately prevailed 10-9 on penalties to claim the Leagues Cup.
