ALERT: Presidential transition council raises the alarm on fake Twitter handle

The presidency has broken ties with a presidential transition committee Twitter account, according to Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF).

On February 9, President Muhammadu Buhari gave his approval for the creation of the transition council to organize the steps taken to ensure a seamless changeover of power from the current government to the following.

The head of the federal civil service, the federation’s solicitor general, the permanent secretary of the ministry of justice, the permanent secretaries of the defense, interior, finance, foreign affairs, and information ministries, as well as other government representatives, serve as members of the council, which is presided over by the SGF.

Willie Bassey, the SGF’s head of information, claimed in a statement on Sunday that a Twitter account was set up prior to the council’s inauguration.

According to Bassey, the account was a “calculated attempt” to spread untruths. For accurate information about the transition program, he pleaded with the public to monitor the council’s official Twitter account.

The statement states, “The Presidential Transition Council (PTC) has been alerted to a fake Twitter handle, @TransitionNgr, created by dishonest individuals since April 2020, even before the establishment and inauguration of the council.”

PTC wishes to state that it has nothing to do with the fictitious Twitter handle and that the president approved the formation of the presidential transition council in February of this year. The PTC chairman and secretary to the government of the federation, Boss Mustapha, CFR, then inaugurated the PTC, exposing their calculated and irresponsible behavior.

The council also stated that all committee members are devoted to making the inauguration on May 29 a triumph.
