Anambra South Senatorial Race: Ifeanyi Ubah crashes fuel price to N200 per litre

The candidate of the Young Peoples Party, YPP, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, has driven down petrol prices in the Anambra South Senatorial zone as the contest for the seat continues to flare up in Anambra State.

Chris Azubogu of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Chris Uba of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Obinna Uzor of the Labour Party are Ubah’s opponents.

YPP’s Ubah and APGA’s Azubogu are prominent candidates in the campaign.

Yet Ubah, an oil tycoon, has used the scarcity of fuel and its high price to his advantage in order to defeat his rivals and acquire more fans.

He is said to have announced on Wednesday that all Capital Oil gas stations in Nnewi and surrounding areas will sell fuel at N200 per litre.

The revelation of the sale of fuel for N200 per litre appears to be a tactic to win over more followers for Ubah because fuel had been sold in Anambra between N230 and N450 for quite some time.

Attempts to reach Ubah for comment on the decision were unsuccessful, however Iyke Orji, a member of Ubah’s media team, stated: “Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah has moved to crash fuel prices in the Anambra South Senatorial District.”

Please visit the Capital Oil gas stations in Nnewi to purchase petrol at a rate of 200 Naira per liter.

The affiliate fuel stations in Orumba North and South and Aguata, where fuel would be distributed for 200 Naira per litre, will be announced later today.

It is unknown if Ubah and other gas stations came to a deal to lower the cost of petrol in the area in order to sway locals in his favor.

Mr. Uchenna Nzen, a native of Nnewi, said: “We are pleased with the new development. Although I haven’t purchased anything, if this election will help them ease the pain, I’m fine with it. Yet, Ifeanyi Ubah is already well-liked by the populace.
