Breaking: INEC to conduct supplementary elections in Doguwa / Tudun Wada Federal Constituency
In a U-turn, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said there was a tie in the Doguwa and Tudunwada federal constituency in Kano State’s National Assembly elections on Wednesday.
In the Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency, where the election results were allegedly announced under duress, INEC declared that it would hold supplemental elections.
After evaluating the outcomes of the local elections, the Returning Officer for the Federal Constituency Elections held on February 25—Professor Ibrahim Adamu Yakasai—announced the judgment of the electoral umpire.
According to Prof. Yakasai, INEC has evaluated the results in accordance with the terms of the Electoral Act.
The APC scored 39,732, the NNPP scored 34, 798, and the PDP scored 7,091 in the revised election results, he claimed, while results in 13 voting units were cancelled.
According to him, there were a total of 6,917 votes in the 13 polling places that were declared invalid, as opposed to the over 4000 vote difference between the APC and NNPP.
In order to ascertain the winner of the Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency elections held on February 25, he stated that INEC would hold supplemental elections in the affected units.
