EFCC urges citizens to report cybercrimes
Citizens are asked to report instances of electronic fraud to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for investigation.
This was stated in a message of awareness to attendees at the Nigerian Communications Commission-organized awareness event titled “Shine Your Eyes, No Fall Mugu” at Abakaliki International Market, Ebonyi State, on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. Idoko Stephen Etubi, Head of Cybercrime Section at the Enugu Zonal Command of the commission, made the statement.
Naibi Aliyu, the Zonal Commander, was represented by Etube, who stated: “Immediately you see something, say something, and EFCC will do something because all those people wey dey do una yahoo-yahoo na we dey fight them for una.”
In his welcome address, the Head of Consumer Protection and Advocacy Unit of the Consumer Affairs Bureau, Clement Omife, said effective collaboration among government agencies, private groups, and individuals is important to fighting the pandemic of electronic fraud.
