Former Senators, Reps looted televisions, carpets, chairs’ – Oshiomhole
Adams Oshiomhole, a former governor of Edo State and a senator for Edo North, has expressed dismay at what he calls the extent of vandalism committed against the National Assembly’s property by former legislators.
Oshiomhole revealed that despite the presence of security personnel, former senators and members of the House of Representatives stole television sets, rugs, and chairs.
When he appeared on Sunday Politics on Channels Television, Oshiomole revealed the information.
He said that the previous politicians left their offices in disarray with holes in the wall and claimed that he had to pay to renovate his office before utilizing it.
The former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, emphasized that the offices left vacant by former Principal Officers of the National Assembly, whose names he declined to reveal, were also vandalized.
“Let me tell you something; the National Assembly does not discuss it, and I do not understand why those who are required to speak do not do so.
The extent of the National Assembly’s property vandalism startled me. Carpets, televisions, and senators’ chairs were all removed using a moving van. I had to utilize my money, and other people also chose to send me a printer and a laptop that I could use at my office. The carpet had to be purchased, and repairs had to be made. To repair the new carpet, I had to pay some young workers to clean the office. I had to pay to have my workplace painted. I will present the receipt to you.
I find it incomprehensible why and how there was such severe vandalism in the National Assembly despite the presence of hundreds of security personnel in a senate that met on Sunday before our Tuesday inauguration. I’ll never comprehend what transpired. Even in the offices of the Senate’s top officials, who I won’t name here, you may find holes in the walls.
People have informed me that the House Representatives are also subject to the similar amount of vandalism, according to Oshiomhole.
