JUST IN: Tinubu, newly appointed service chiefs in closed-door meeting at Aso Rock
All of the recently appointed Service Chiefs are currently participating in a private meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Major-General C.G. Musa, the Chief of Army Staff, Major-General T. A. Lagbaja, the Chief of Air Staff, AVM H.B. Abubakar, the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, and the acting Inspector-General of Police, DIG Kayode Egbetokun, are all present at the meeting, which just started at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Recall that Tinubu shocked the country by dismissing the previous service chiefs and announcing new ones as replacements just before his recent journey to Paris, France, to attend a finance summit.
In addition, Tinubu replaced Babagana Monguno as National Security Advisor (NSA) with Malam Nuhu Ribadu, a former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Although the new service chiefs have since begun their jobs, Nigerians’ reactions to their appointments were varied.
The current meeting is Tinubu’s first official encounter with the new Services Chiefs as President of Nigeria.
