Kwara State Police Command recovers weapons, ammunition, and $255,000 from fleeing suspect

During a checkpoint in Bode-Saadu town, Moro Local Government Area, a suspect who was stopped by Kwara State Police Command left behind some weapons, ammo, and $255,000.
The recovery took place around 11 p.m. on December 31, 2022 at the Bode-Saadu checkpoint, where a detachment of policemen stopped the suspect who was riding a Bajaj motorcycle, according to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, Okasanmi Ajayi.
He claimed that the suspect got off the motorcycle and ran into the underbrush.
One of the key outcomes of the plan for ensuring public safety, according to Ajayi, “was recorded on December 31, 2022 at about 2300 hours along Bode Saadu axis in Moro Local Government Area when a detachment of policemen detailed to monitor the axis sighted and flagged down a Bajaj motorcycle operator for a routine check.
Surprisingly, the motorcycle’s driver hopped off and dashed into the underbrush. Two AK-47 weapons, seven empty magazines, 50 rounds of AK-47 live ammo, three Tecno handsets, eleven telephone handset batteries, six charms, garments, and $255,000 were found during a search of the bag attached to the motorcycle,” a police spokesman stated.
He stated that efforts are being made to apprehend the evading suspect, who is thought to be one of the kidnappers operating in the
happening in the border towns of the states of Ekiti, Kogi, and Kwara.
Police Commissioner Paul Odama vowed to use the necessary pressure to ensure that the suspects’ gang members and those who were fleeing were apprehended.
