NigeriaElections2023: Former President Yar’Adua’s brother, Abdulaziz, wins senate seat in Kastina
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Abdulaziz Yar’Adua has been proclaimed the victor of the Katsina central senatorial district election.
Yar’adua served in the Nigerian army as a retired lieutenant colonel.
He is also Umaru Yar’Adua’s younger brother, who passed away in office.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INECreturning )’s officer, Aminu Kankia, declared the outcome in Katsina on Sunday.
According to Kankia, Yar’Adua received 153,512 votes in total to defeat Aminu Sirajo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 152,140.
The returning officer also stated that Aminu Gide of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) garnered 781 votes, while Gambo Abubakar of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) obtained 16,005 votes.
Yar’Adua commented on his triumph, thanking the populace for its support and promising to have a long-lasting effect on the neighborhood.
I am incredibly grateful and humbled by the Katsina central residents’ resounding support. I appreciate your trusting in me and giving me the chance to work for you. I pledge to put forth endless effort to fulfill our commitments and have a beneficial influence on our neighborhood,” Yar’Adua wrote in a tweet on Monday.
“Let’s continue to collaborate to create a better future for everyone.”
