Op-ed: Oto-ge was never a Mistake but some Beneficiaries are by Yahaya Habib

Let me state this clearly from inception for the sake of those who are professors in twisting other people’s opinions to suit their political narrations that Oto Ge is never a mistake in Kwara State it remains the best political expedition ever in the history of our dear State and Nigeria as a whole.

Oto-Ge is not only beneficial and propitious to the people currently in power but equally helps the opposition to know their pitfalls and lentigos, Only if they will never allow some of the ingredients that spoilt their soup to continue to exist in their kitchens.

It all started back in the year 2003 when late Rear Admiral Muhammed Lawal lost his reelection bid, most of his loyal disciples especially those that left the dynasty to align with the governor felt the need to establish a formidable opposition capable enough to oust Saraki out of power in the anticipated 2007 election, but all efforts went down the political drain when Governor Alabi Lawal died before the political battle year.

The first political exasperation started in the camp of Kwara opposition politicians loyal to late Alabi Lawal immediately after his demise as most of them were claiming to be Lawal’s anointed candidates in the 2007 election, they could not agree on leadership and as a result, they were fragmented and this gave Bukola Saraki free ride to power for the second term.

How do we talk about this period of political discomfiting without talking about some betrayals to the struggle, those who sold out and turned themselves into political monkeys jumping from one political leader to another?

The opposition had the opportunity of coming together in the year 2011 but failed as a result of the vested interest of some leaders who believe in the power above ( Federal power).

Oto ge is not accidental, it’s a process that matured and ripe for harvest in the year 2019 and the real Farmers are Kwarans who want the best for themselves and the State but some of the beneficiaries are ingrates and crooks.

It’s a pity that we are becoming what we once condemned in the past, Oto ge came along with Its principles, ideologies, and dreams for Kwarans and Kwara. If I may ask where are those beautiful dreams and ideas? and how are we striving to change the political narration of the State from the condemned past?

Oto Ge emerged to stop godfatherism in Kwara politics but today we are busy building godfathers and godsons across all the political divides.

We once condemned favoritism especially when the favored are not competent. Today, competency has been eroded to give way to favoritism and those with the biggest money bags.

We condemned sycophancy and criticized sycophants of yesterday but now sycophancy is the order of the day. It’s a pity that some of those who condemned the sycophants of yesterday are currently the Sycophants CnC.

Oto ge came with developmental ideas, the ideas that can change our stories for the better. Yes, the governor is trying but not his best. We are glorifying ineptitude and mediocrity indeed.

May I say the opportunists that rode to power through Otoge’s ladder are the bane of the present political embarrassment in the State, those that never shared the ideas and principles and those that are known for trickery and deception?. What a pity.

The time is now for Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to define his stand, I can’t see any justifications in some of his appointments and moves than political appeasement at the detriment of the good people of Kwara state. Apology to the competent ones doing their best.

“There must not be any anointed candidate from any godfather,” we said but here we are today.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq should be reminded of the free ride he enjoyed to power in the last election and be ready to pay heavily this time around as the vehicle is no longer available for free.

It is high time we start flushing the blemishes out of the circle. ..

Kwara must be great.
