Veteran Nigerian politician Bode George has advised former presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar to forego another run in 2027. Citing Atiku’s age, nearing 81 by then, George believes the party should prioritize younger candidates.

“Let’s mentor the younger generation,” George emphasized, advocating for continuity within the PDP. He compared seeking office at an advanced age to an octogenarian pursuing a ministerial position, highlighting the need for generational transition.

Atiku’s potential 2027 candidacy has sparked debate within the PDP. While some see him as a unifying figure, others believe his age necessitates a fresh perspective. George’s comments add fuel to this internal discussion, urging the party to embrace younger leaders.
