Revelation Cup: Super Falcons beat Costa Rica to end 7-match winless run

In the Super Falcons’ final game at the Mexico City 2023 Revelations Cup, Costa Rica was defeated 1-0.
The only goal scored by Esther Okoronkwo just before halftime in the early Wednesday morning match between the Randy Waldrum-coached girls and Costa Rica at the León Stadium.
After losing its opening two games to Mexico and Colombia, the team’s first triumph of the competition. The team’s seven-game losing streak came to an end with the victory.
Rasheedat Ajibade, who was especially energetic in creating opportunities, helped the Falcons overpower the Costa Ricans.
Jennifer Echegini sped to the byline before floating a cross towards the far post in the 45th minute, giving Costa Rica’s Daniela Solera little trouble at all.
When the ball reached Okoronkwo, she took her time before firing a cool shot through a horde of defenders and into the goal.
Nigeria finished the four-nation competition in third place thanks to the goal, which was sufficient.
Also, it was the group’s first victory since defeating Cameroon in the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinals in Morocco in July.
