Soludo pleads with Buhari to release Nnamdi Kanu, Promises to be his ‘surety’
President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged by Anambra Governor Chukwuma Soludo to release Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB’s leader.
According to Mr. Soludo, the demand for Mr. Kanu’s release came in response to the ongoing kidnappings and murders that continue to plague the South-East region.
“I now want to appeal to the Federal Government and our capable president, led by President Buhari, and demand that they bring a critical person to the table so that the discussion can be completed and we can take an all-encompassing approach to addressing the issue of insecurity and talking about the future of the South-East.
“That individual is Nnamdi Kanu, and we desperately need him at the table. Please free him up for us. I’m requesting that Nnamdi Kanu be released from prison, Mr. Soludo remarked on Saturday in Awka, Anambra.
Mr. Kanu, who was re-arrested in June 2021 by the federal government, is accused of committing terrorism and treasonable felonies while advocating for a Biafra Republic.
Remember that Mr. Kanu was cleared of all accusations of terrorism by the Abuja Court of Appeal, but the Buhari administration challenged the ruling.

The governor of Anambra declared that the South-East required Mr. Kanu, who had been held by the secret police, for a discussion that would ensure the prosperity and development of the region.
