Why I dumped music for mass communication at the peak of my career – Korede Bello

Oluwakorede Bello, a well-known Nigerian musician and songwriter, has explained why he gave up his lucrative music career to seek a degree in mass communication.
When the globally popular smash song “Dorobucci” was released in 2014, Korede, who is best known for his hit tune “Godwin,” a semi-gospel/pop song that topped numerous music charts across Nigeria, got a record deal with Mavin Records.
In a recent interview with The New Telegraph, the singer discusses his decision to forgo a career in music in order to pursue a degree in mass communication as well as how he has managed the mental health challenges that come with working in the entertainment industry.
Although I don’t particularly enjoy traditional education, I do enjoy learning about how the world and the human mind function. Therefore, earning a degree in mass communication seemed appropriate for my line of work,” he remarked.
Then he continued, “Composing a headline is like writing a chorus. Both of them must be memorable and elicit an emotional response. News and music speak to us on an emotional level. Therefore, learning about your passion is a wonderful thing. I’ve seen that even if you’re the most well-known or wealthy person on the planet, you can still feel sad or unsatisfied on the inside.
