2023 election: NSCDC boss expresses readiness to protect NYSC members

Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the NSCDC’s Commandant General, has pledged to ensure the safety of Nigerians before, during, and after the 2023 general elections.
In a statement released on Sunday, DCC Olusola Odumusu, Director of Public Relations, NSCDC National Headquarters, Abuja, said that the corps would also defend members of the National Youth Service Corps, or NYSC, INEC officials, and election supplies that would be used in the general election of 2023.
He said that Dr. Audi provided the promise when hosting Brig. Gen. Yushau Dogara Ahmed, the Director General of the NYSC, and other important management personnel at the NSCDC Headquarters in Abuja.
Dr. Audi expressed happiness and hope regarding the results of the cooperation between the security authorities in charge of overseeing the security of the 2023 elections.
He guaranteed that NYSC members would be appropriately protected throughout the process and hinted that mechanisms had been put in place in the interest of national security to address perceived security problems before, during, and after the polls.
He urged Nigerians to take part fully in the next elections, noting that the government has taken the necessary steps to ensure a peaceful environment throughout the entire nation.
The NSCDC chairman appealed for increased public backing of the security organizations tasked with ensuring free, fair, and legitimate elections.
While he stated his desire to strengthen the partnership between the NSCDC and the NYSC, which he described as a crucial partner in the upcoming election, he also directed NSCDC staff to step up surveillance to ensure the maximum level of protection and guarantee the security of NYSC participants, their camps, and the locations of their primary assignments, just as they do for other crucial national assets and governmental infrastructure.
