2023 WWC: I have no regret – Atiku, Saraki react as England eliminated Nigeria’s Super Falcon

Nigeria was eliminated from the ongoing 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, and vice president Atiku Abubakar responded.


The Women’s World Cup Round of 16 match between the Super Falcons and England was decided by a penalty shootout after 120 minutes of play finished in a 0-0 stalemate on Monday, according to Newscrescent media.

Desire Oparanozie and Michelle Alozie both missed their extra-point attempts, which led to England winning the shootout 4-2.


In response, Atiku tweeted that he had no regrets about forgoing breakfast to watch Nigeria vs. England in the Round of 16.

Additionally, he argued that the Super Falcons have every right to be proud of themselves.

Atiku tweeted, “We may have lost to England in a penalty shootout, but the @NGSuper_Falcons have every reason to hold their heads high. I still have no regrets about skipping my breakfast for this game. #ENGNGR #FIFAWWC –AA.”



Also reacting, former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki tweeted: “Despite the heartbreak of the penalty shootout, I am proud of the Super Falcons for their incredible journey in the #FIFAWWC. And you, @NGSuper_Falcons, should be proud of what you have achieved. #ENGNGA.”
