Two killed at the battle exchange by Yoruba nation and Nigeria Police

According to a news that was published by the Newscrescent online news, this morning, it was reported that no fewer than two persons, have been killed after a group of Yoruba nation agitators clashed with men of the Lagos State Police Command around the Gani Fawehinmi Park in the Ojota area of Lagos State.

It was reported that the agitators, were peacefully protesting again on Monday, when some policemen came to the venue and started firing tear-gas canisters to disperse them, as the demonstrators were said to have retaliated which made the situation degenerated.

When an eyewitness, who runs a business in front of Ojota Park, was speaking to Punch correspondent on condition of anonymity for security reasons, he said that the protesters arrived at the park around 3am in the middle of the night.

He said, “A bus dropped them at 3am and no one was scared that they could be armed robbers when they were clustering because if they had the intention to rob, we were just few that were around at that time they came.”

He said it was in the morning that they knew their true intention was to protest, as people saw them around the Ojota Park and displaying banners and the flag of the Oodua Nation around 8am and that, they never acted in any manner that showed that they wanted to fight anyone or police operatives.

He said, “They were just protesting peacefully and it was when the police came that everything scattered as they started shooting tear gas canisters to disperse them.”
