Naira/Fuel Scarcity: Heavy Presence Of Security Operatives Void Protest In Ibadan
Security personnel stationed at the University of Ibadan (UI), Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo state, prevented a crowd of protestors from assembling on Monday as they demonstrated against the state’s lack of fuel, new naira notes, and an epileptic power supply.
Only a small number of protestors gathered early on Monday morning at the entrance of the University of Ibadan to obstruct traffic and other people from going freely to their respective destinations.
The demonstrators were seen holding signs that read, among other things, “We are tired of Buhari,” “Mr. President, do something,” “Nigerians are starving,” and “Hear our voice, Nigerian Government.”
No fewer than 15 police cars attacked the affected area to remove the protestors from further action after the security personnel who were already on standby in certain strategic spots around the Ibadan metropolis noticed the protesters’ presence.
