Fuel subsidy: Kwara maps out additional succour for state public servants
To mitigate the effects of the Federal government’s elimination of fuel subsidies, the Kwara State Government plans to offer suitable allowances to state public employees.
This is a step toward implementing the newly agreed change that will reduce the number of workdays for its civil personnel from five to three.
According to a statement released on Wednesday in Ilorin by the state’s chief press secretary, Murtala Atoyebi, “the government was set to provide succor for workers who could not be covered by the reduction in workdays due to peculiar nature of their official duties.”
As a stop-gap measure up until the review of the minimum wage is completed, the government is seeking to offer suitable allowances to support these types of workers.
According to Newscrescent media, the state administration on Monday announced a decrease in workdays for its governmental personnel from five to three days as part of measures to deal with the difficulties of the loss of gasoline subsidies.
