After taking office on May 29, President Muhammadu Buhari said he cannot wait to return to Daura, Katsina state.

At his ninth and final Sallah celebration at the presidential house in Abuja, Buhari gave a speech on Friday.

The president considered it a blessing to have held several positions of leadership in Nigeria.

He also expressed gratitude to Abuja’s citizens for “tolerating” him over the previous seven and a half years.

I’m eager to get home. I purposely made plans to be as far away from you people as I could be,” he replied.

I’ve gotten what I wanted, so I’ll peacefully go back to my hometown of Daura.

The Nigerian president returned to Abuja on Wednesday following an eight-day official trip to Saudi Arabia.

While in the nation, the president undertook Umrah (lesser hajj), a Muslim pilgrimage.
