Emefiele, Bawa: Falana urges DSS to speed up investigation

Famous attorney Femi Falana has encouraged the Department of State Services, DSS, to expedite its investigations into charges involving the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, and the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.

On Friday, the human rights attorney responded to inquiries on Politics Today on Channels Television.

Falana urged the DSS to indict the pair if it had any evidence of it.

Bawa reportedly faced questions from the DSS on claims of abuse of power made against him, while Emefiele was detained and subsequently suspended over allegations of financing terrorism.

He claimed that Emefiele and Bawa’s ongoing detention does not represent the application of the Administration of Criminal act.Falana encouraged the government to deal with their situations legally, nevertheless.

“Investigations should be carried out quickly, especially if allegations have been made. The inquiry into the extremely serious charge that has been made won’t be delayed, he said.
