FAAN Closes Lagos Airport Runway For Eight-Week Maintenance
A runway at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos State will be closed for eight weeks to conduct maintenance work, according to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
The Authority reaffirmed its dedication to safety, security, and comfort—its fundamental values—in the now-deleted post from Monday.
This is to inform the public that the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos will be closed for 8 weeks to carry out maintenance. All flight operations will utilize taxiway B-18L, it stated.
In a phone conversation with Channels Television, Faithful Hope-Ivbaze, the FAAN spokesperson, confirmed the “temporary” shutdown of “one aspect” of the runway at MMIA.
Flight interruptions are not a part of this temporary closure, which is only to allow for repairs to be made to the runway. At the international [airport], flights are still being operated, she said.
