Governor Adeleke suspends Osun Polytechnic Rector, appoints replacement

The Osun State Government has suspended Dr. Tajudeen Odetayo, rector of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.


Odetayo was suspended four months after Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, appointed him.

Alabi Adeyemi has been appointed by the state government to take the place of Rector Odetayo, who has been suspended.

Separate letters from the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, A. K. Jimoh, containing the announcements of Odetayo’s suspension and the appointment of Adeyemi.

The state government said that among other things, corruption and misuse of power were to blame for Odetayi’s suspension.

In his letter, Jimoh stated that “you are hereby suspended as the Rector of the Institution in light of the serious charges of financial irresponsibility, corruption, theft of funds, and abuse of office.

While the claims made against you are being investigated, you will be placed on immediate suspension.

The nomination of Adeyemi, according to the Permanent Secretary, has the state governor Adeleke’s approval.

“This is to announce that Mr. ALABI Kehinde Adeyemi has been appointed as the institution’s acting rector with the endorsement of Osun State’s Executive Governor, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke. Dr. T.A. Odetayo, who is under investigation for claims of financial irresponsibility, corruption, theft of funds, and abuse of office, will be replaced by Mr. Alabi Kehinde Adeyemi.

“The erstwhile Rector should step aside pending the time the allegations against him are properly investigated by relevant bodies.

“The appointment of the Acting Rector takes immediate effect.”
