Imo govt to sponsor digital trainings for journalists

The governor of Imo State has approved ongoing training in information and communication technology (ICT) for the state’s media professionals.
This information was shared yesterday in Owerri at a professional development workshop for working journalists in the state that the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Imo State chapter, organized.
Declan Emelumba, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, spoke on behalf of Uzodimma, who claimed that the training would equip participants with the abilities and information necessary for reliable reporting and efficient media service provision.
Ifeanyi Nwanguma, the chairman of the Imo NUJ, expressed optimism during his remarks at the workshop that the knowledge gained there will assist participants improve their ability for service delivery in the current digital era.
He continued by saying that it would also aid in preparing journalists to accurately and professionally report the results of the next general elections and other events in the state.
“This workshop’s theme, ‘Upgrading Strategic Communication Competence In The Digital Era,’ is pertinent as we work in the 21st century, which is distinguished by ICT dexterity,” he stated. It is appropriate since media professionals need to be current and move with the trends.
